The Science behind it
Traditional Chinese Medicine Acupuncture has been practised as a therapeutic technique for healing in China for well over 2500 years. The oldest medical textbook that relates to acupuncture is the “Huang Di Nei Jing” which translates to “Yellow Emperor’s Internal Classic” and it is still relevant today. Acupuncture, although ancient, has evolved and changed over the course of its history, as many new techniques have been introduced.

There is a large body of scientific data from animal and human studies that seeks to explain the mechanisms of acupuncture. Current reviews have shown that acupuncture promotes the production of “endorphins” that relieve pain, improves the immune system, regulates blood flow and hormones, is antiinflammatory and anti-spasmodic, and improves your overall feeling of well-being.

Are acupuncture results due to a placebo effect?
Physiological changes after acupuncture are not result of the placebo effect, and many results will occur without conscious knowledge of the patient. Many of the result are also measured by the scientific investigation such as MRI or other measurable physical change that can occur in our body. You can find many publications about acupuncture which are freely available online as well as in our clinic. Please come and ask us about it if you wish to learn more.
